Young artists sang โwe can be the ones..!โ while mixing paint, hummed the tune during green screen experiments, chanted the words while running through Domino Park with camerasโthe anthem took shape through action. Weeks of watercolor, movement, light play, large-scale collaborative painting, overhead projector lens experiments, outdoor filming sessionsโevery exploration is another way of understanding what it feels like to catalyze transformation. Our 2025 anthem โWe Will Be The Onesโ was built from young artists discovering their power to create change through deliberate action.

Green screen movement sessions revealed rhythm emerging from gesture and response. One young artist moved, another mirrored, a third added variation. โEvery time I make a change, it paves the way for other changes.โ The lyric lived in their bodies before they sang itโcause and effect visible in real time through motion.
Overhead projector experiments showed how small changes in angle transform what becomes visible. Light and shadow work revealed how perspective shifts everythingโsame object, completely different sides depending on where one stands, how one looks. As the song says: โHow I feel at the other side depends on how I think about it.โ
The large-scale collaborative painting in brilliant yellows then reds then purples happened through dialogue. Where should this mark go? What happens if we overlap here? Young artists made choices together, watched the surface shift with each decisionโmany hands working on one composition, countless conversations unfolding about what to do next. Painting feet brought transformation into the bodyโwalking across paper, feeling texture, leaving traces. The refrain โwe can be the onesโ became real through shared action.

Watercolor experiments showed what happens when one chooses to paint one color close enough to anotherโthey meet, merge, become something neither color was alone. Young artists learned one canโt always predict transformation, but one can create conditions for it. โThe colors change, they build and breakโโobservable on every page. Those explorations became the album cover for the song.
Singing practice built confidence session by session. Tentative voices grew stronger through repetition and willingness to try again. โI get the strength to keep on going, knowing Iโll be better for it.โ Strength as something one builds, not something one is born with.
Filming at Domino Park took everything beyond studio walls. Young artists took turns with handheld video cameras and DSLRs, switching rolesโone moment filming, the next being filmed, then directing what to capture. Running, jumping, claiming space, their energy transformed the park into a set. โI can play my partโโeach young artist literally played different parts as they rotated through roles, creating something that didnโt exist before they arrived.

Young artists learned the vocabulary by experiencing what the words mean. Catalyzeโto cause or accelerate changeโbecame concrete through painting, moving, singing. They could define it and demonstrate it. Transformation and changeโwords describing what they caused and what they felt through their choices. Full circleโthe cycles they experienced coming back to the work with fresh understanding. Open heart and open mindโthe mindset required to approach materials with curiosity and possibility. Strengthโwhat they built through showing up and trying again.
During one painting session, a young artist said, โWe keep changing it!โ Another paused mid-brushstroke and responded, โIt never ends how it starts.โ That observation became a lyric in the song.
The song is fast, upbeat, catchy, hope-filled. The refrain โwe will change thingsโ carried through every session. An anthem built through the energy of 2025 to take us into 2026 and beyondโabout recognizing oneโs power to create change right now.
The refrain we will change things carried through every studio session. Youth hear a lotโtalk about whatโs next, questions in every direction, everythingโand are always absorbing so much from the world around them. Studio processes and this song emerged through the energy of 2025 to carry into 2026 and beyond. What matters most: young artists knowing and living that their power isnโt someday. Itโs present. The song shifts from we can be the ones to we will be the onesโnot possibility, but promise. Not later, but now. Fast, upbeat, catchy, hope-filledโthis anthem affirms our belief in young artists catalyzing change and leading the charge for our future world.

โConsider Community Conceptโ
When planning how to put our teaching philosophy into practice, we first develop a single-sentence Consider Community Concept (always beginning with the word โourโ) to direct intention for teaching artists & young artists to infuse real life perspective within the art-making process. To develop a CCC, we finish this sentence: โYoung artists consider community by ____.โ Example: โYoung artists consider community by recognizing their power to create change through their actions.โ With the sentence now complete, we develop the CCC: โOur ability to catalyze transformation is present.โ
